CUSTOM TENSILE ARCHITECTURE IN NAMIBIA
Amid the vastness of Damaraland's extraordinary vistas, Wilderness Desert Rhino Camp emerges from the starkly beautiful and arid landscape.
SIGNATURE CUSTOM ROOF MEMBRANE STRUCTURES
SITE LOCATION: Damaraland, Namibia
A desert sanctuary. A refuge for rhinos. An escape for explorers.
SCOPE OF WORK
Textile Architecture & Engineering
Tenthouse Structures design-engineered, supplied and installed the roof membrane structures, textile elements and complex ground anchoring for six contemporary suites, including one family unit and the main area providing a beautiful, sheltered oasis.
Collaborating with Wilderness and Migs &Drew Architects, we developed organic forms that intimately connected to the built structures and Namibian landscape.
To meet the performance and comfort requirements for this unique site, our team of engineers and tensile designers undertook thorough analyses, parametric modelling and environmental simulation to achieve the best-suited low impact design.
