AN ULTRA LUXURY TENSILE GUEST LODGE EXPERIENCE IN THE OKAVANGO
LUXURY TENSILE GUEST LODGE DUMATAU
SITE LOCATION: Linyanti, Botswana
DumaTau, meaning 'roar of the lion,' is a luxury tented camp located in the private Linyanti Wildlife Reserve on the western boundary of Chobe National Park.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Textile Architecture & Engineering
Tenthouse Structures design-engineered, supplied, and installed the unique roof membrane structures for the ten luxury accommodation suites and the main areas, together with the canvas envelope interior and exteriors.
Working from a 2D-rendering of a footprint concept, which we reworked and nurtured into what today is the peaked design of the camp. By creating varying heights in the structures, we were able to overcome a static aesthetic and blend the tents in with the landscape seamlessly.
As part of our tent architecture design process, we built to-scale test models, conducted fabric performance tests, working through complex interface detailing, and created specialized, high-functioning fittings, all designed to withstand the African elements over an extended life period.
In addition, Tenthouse Structures design-engineered and installed the fire deck structure – a major camp attraction for DumaTau's many guests and visitors.
